Black Excellence.

Black Excellence.

Black people considered exceptional are frequently subjected to intense scrutiny and punished for their excellence. Black excellence pushes individuals to forgo their physical and mental health and welfare in the name of goodness.

It is a myth that being outstanding will somehow protect black people from prejudice and discrimination. There is never enough black perfection; there is always another peak to scale. And what happens to black people not held in high regard by society? They may not be seen as unique in our culture, but they are.

Black greatness is living in an environment intended to keep you constrained. We must make changes in what we exalt and revere. Black greatness extends beyond the pioneers who achieve the unthinkable. The excellence among black people is not limited to those who win honors and prizes. Black excellence exists despite society’s best efforts to eradicate it.
